This Dutch Colonial structure is a center for village government and community activities. It was built in 1915 to house the citizen-oriented Lakewood Hose Company dating from 1895. Automaker J. Ward Packard, a resident of the village, donated the land, $1,500 toward the $7,500 cost for the construction of the fire station, and a 1915 model "T" Ford chemical fire truck. It was the first motorized fire aparatus in the greater Jamestown area. The building retains much of the original appearence including the 70 foot hose drying tower. A mid-20th century addition to the west side of the original building housed an expanded fire department. The arched windows on the building's front have replaced the original hinged double doors. In 1995 the Fire Department built a new fire station on Packard Blvd and Chautauqua Ave. The Fire Company's space at Village Hall is now occupied by the Lakewood-Busti Police Department. The early fire truck and first alarm bell are on display at the George V. Blackstone Fire Museum at the present fire station.
