Fayette Historic State Park

The location has... two streets circling around the little bay, upon which have been erected some ten or twelve neat frame buildings. There are also some twenty-five or thirty log shanties, all occupied, but they are on the opposite slope from the little bay.Lake Superior Mining and Manufacturing NewsSeptember 28, 1867
A central business district divided Fayette's company housing. Tradesmen and supervisors lived with their families in comfortable frame houses across town.
The simple log homes of Fayette's laboring class stretched in rows along the hill, road and shoreline.
One of Fayette's working class homes had been reconstructed on its original site. Shallow depressions in the ground mark other cabin sites.
