In Eternal Gratitude
to those gallant soldiers
of France
under General Lafayette's command
who died of wounds suffered
in the siege of Yorktown
fighting for American liberty
[Roll of Honored Dead]
Lafayette College intends that these soldiers of France
who made the supreme sacrifice
be forever enshrined in the hearts of all
in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
This tablet is presented by the Lafayette College
Class of 1941
many of whose members went to war
soon after graduation
and helped liberate France
Dedicated this day, June 8, 1991, in the year of the
two hundred and tenth anniversary of the surrender
of Lord Cornwallis at Yorktown and on the occasion
of the Fiftieth Reunion of the Class of 1941
——————————————————
The Class of 1941 wishes to join to the names of
these gallant Frenchmen those of our classmates
who gave up their lives in World War II fighting
for the same ideal - Liberty
