[Excerpts from the circular bas relief memorial]

On Friday May 7th 1915, at 2.10pm, RMS Lusitania was struck by torpedo and sank in 18 minutes. [liner shown in New York City harbor]
The wreck lies almost due south of this memorial on the Old Head of Kinsale.
