Considered by many to be the greatest baseball player ever. Retired as all-time home run king with 755 career round-trippers. Continues to hold the Major League record for career runs batted in (2,297), extra base hits (1,477), and total bases (6,856). Ranks third all-time in hits (3,771) and tied for fourth all-time in runs (2,174). Named an All-Star for 21 consecutive seasons (1955-1975). Slugged pennant-clinching home run in each of Braves' World Series Seasons. Won N.L. MVP honors in 1957. First player to reach both 500 home runs and 3,000 hits. Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1982.
