Milwaukee Braves, 1953-1963
Eight-time All-Star catcher who excelled both at and behind the plate. Spent 11 seasons in Milwaukee following two years of military service in the Korean War. Belted 15-plus home runs in eight consecutive seasons and won four Gold Glove Awards. Led N.L. in throwing out base stealers in five different seasons. Also led N.L. catchers in assists a record-tying six times and in fielding percentage four times. Finished career ranked fourth among N.L. catchers in home runs (175) and games caught (1,430). Caught N.L. record three no-hitters. Managed the Milwaukee Brewers from 1972-1975.HM Number | HM2MLL |
