A Chapel of St. Luke's Parrish,established May 23, 1767, built ofwood shortly after 1786 under thedirection of Captain John Stoneyand Isaac Fripp, was consecratedin 1833. Members of the Barksdale, Baynard, Chaplin, Davant, Fripp,Kirk, Mathews, Pope, Stoney, andWebb families worshiped here. By 1868 the chapel was destroyed.
