Gateway to Yorktown
This British redoubt is the sole original earthwork remaining from the siege of Yorktown - but it never came under fire. Cornwallis pulled back to Yorktown from this key defensive position on the night of September 30, 1781, and opened Yorktown's only land approach to the besieging Allied armies.HM Number | HM72X |
