Site of house occupied as headquarters ofColonel George Rogers Clark before capturingFort Sackville from the British February 25, 1779.It was a private house facing the Fort.
Later Colonel Henry Hamilton, British Commanderof the Garrison, was housed here after the surrenderand before his removal to Williamsburg, Virginia.
This marker erected by the Indiana Daughters of theAmerican Revolution in 1954 is Dedicated to thoseValiant Americans who achieved this great conquest.
