Rockland County
Court House
Our forebears commitment to the rule of law was manifested in the first court house built in Tappan in 1691. In 1774 a small frame court house was constructed on this more convenient site, replaced in 1827 by a larger brick building. This present seat of justice, erected in 1928 was rededicated on September 17, 1987, in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution.
