Constructed in 1908
In the early days of Grand Canyon Village, the blacksmith shop served as a focal point of activity. The blacksmith was a highly skilled craftsman who welded the machinery, sharpened the tools, built water tanks, repaired the wagon wheels and shod the horses and mules. In addition, he manufactured branding irons and fashioned metal into ornamental iron work. Today, the blacksmith shop still serves many of the original purposes for which it was built.HM Number | HMQGN |
