Jo Anders was one of the greatest players in Upstate Textile League history. Anders turned down a dream contract with the New York Yankees in 1942 to join the U.S. Army and serve in World war II. After the war, he was offered a chance to play in the minor leagues for the Brooklyn Dodgers, but instead returned home to play in the Textile Leagues.
