A link with the outside world
In the days before Vanderbilt bought this land, families drove the cattle, pigs, geese and turkeys they raised in these mountains along this road to the market in Greenville and Charleston, SC. The main link with the outside world, this road came up the Davidson River to the present site of the fish hatchery and then, followed creeks or "draws" around the west side of Looking Glass Rock, passing near the commissary it wound its way to Wagon Road Gap, where the Blue Ridge Parkway is today.HM Number | HMTOZ |
