On August 11th, 1691, a few hours after the attack on Fort La Prairie, Major Peter Schuyler and his Indians suffered a severe defeat at the hands of the French and their indian allies, under the command of Captain De Valrennes. The French lost the following officers: Lieutenants Le Varlet, Le Ber, Duchesne, Denys De La Bru?re and Depeiras.
