Top marker: Welcome to Humboldt Redwoods State Park. As you travel either U.S. Highway 101 or the Avenue of the Giants for the next 32 miles, you will pass through the largest redwood park of all California State Parks. Preserved here are over 53,000 acres of magnificent forest containing some 17,000 acres of ancient redwoods.
These coast redwoods, the world's tallest trees, reach heights of over 360 feet and live as long as 2,000 years. They represent a "living museum" of what was once the greatest forest on earth.
Bottom marker: The Avenue of the Giants Auto Tour: A 32-mile Scenic Highway that passes through dozens of dazzling redwood groves.
Paralleling Hwy 101 and the Eel River the "Avenue" is a scenic alternative through Humboldt Redwoods State Park and local communities.
Many delightful trails, picnic areas, swimming holes, campgrounds and park Visitor Center are just a few of the attractions. Come travel the world-famous Avenue of the Giant to taste the flavor of the redwoods.
