Trojan Mining Company
—Lead, South Dakota —
The overshot mucker was a rail-mounted, rock excavation machine, operated by compressed air. This mucker was used to scoop up blasted, broken rock and throw it overhead into an ore car positioned behind the mucker. As the mucker advanced the mining crews slid rails into the broken rock until the pile of rock was removed. Then, the rails were properly installed and the mining cycle (drilling, blasting, mucking and bolting) began again.HM Number | HM2ADZ |
