Revolutionary War veteran Isaac Wilson, one of the first settlers in Indianapolis, built a frame house on this site in 1821 or 1822. Just west of this location Wilson built the first mill for grinding grain on Fall Creek. Wilson died in 1823 and was buried immediately southeast of the house, as eventually were his wife Sarah and three other families. Family members resided in the house until the 1920s, when the university purchased the property and razed the house to make room for hospital expansion. Wilson Street, just north of Riley Hospital, was named for Isaac Wilson.
