Tal es la naturaleza profunda de esta ciudad, llamada inicialmente Payo Obispo. A cien años de aquella gesta memorable, Chetumal se siente orgullosa de recibir en su seno los restos mortales de su ilustre fundador, que en esta fronter tiene su morada definitiva y la protección de un pueblo agradecidoChetumal, Quintana Roo 5 de mayo de 1998English translation:The chiefdom of Chactemal was inhabited by the Maya from very early times. Such is the profound nature of this city, initially called Payo Obispo.
