— Round Bottom Log —
During the early colonial period, boatbuilders were in short supply. As most settlements were built along the Chesapeake's rivers and creeks, there was a great need for small boats of any kind. Colonists, using metal-edged tools, were able to refine the Indian dugout to make a "punt." This reproduction was built in 1981 by the museum's Patuxent Small Craft Guild.HM Number | HM2K4G |
