The Spanish-American War, the Philippine-American War, and the Presidio
— 1898 - 1902 —
On April 21, 1898, the United States declared war against Spain. The immediate causes were America's support of Cuba's ongoing struggle against Spanish rule and the mysterious explosion of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor. This was the first overseas war fought by the United States, with campaigns in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.HM Number | HMWPS |
